PhD, HSPP Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Director
Dr. Lennon received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Miami University (Ohio) and has over 40 years of clinical experience. Dr. Lennon specializes in working with children, adolescents, families and couples. He believes the family is the cornerstone of society and, within the Judeo-Christian tradition, he assists couples and parents in developing and strengthening their individual potential, their marital relationship, and their family unit.
Dr. Lennon also has expertise in addressing the unique challenges that families have when they adopt children who have bonding and attachment difficulties. In 1991, Dr. Lennon pioneered an intensive inpatient program for children and adolescents specializing in the treatment of bonding and attachment disorders.
He has offered professional consultations for child care agencies, conducted workshops and seminars throughout the Midwest, and trained and supervised therapists who work with attachment disordered children and adolescents. His thoughts on children and families have appeared in the column, “For the love of children…”
Dr. Lennon’s psychodynamic-existential approach emphasizes the power of free will and personal responsibility in determining the course of one’s life. For children who have been prescribed psychotropic drugs in an attempt to control their emotions and behavior, Dr. Lennon works with medical doctors in developing alternative solutions that do not have the potential negative side effects that many medications have on a child’s developing brain and body.
